The Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University, collaborated with Mandarin Language Center to host a researcher discussion forum with Xihua University, China. This event took place on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Sebelas Maret University. It was part of a series of activities that have been ongoing since 2021 between Xihua University and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Sebelas Maret University.
In addition to discussions led by experts and researchers from both institutions, the launch of the Mandarinable journal was also integrated into the event. Experts from both universities presented their research findings ranging from humanities to agriculture. This is the form of collaboration between two universities, it’s a study of Indonesian literature and culture as well as the Bashu culture in China.
Speakers from Xihua University included Prof. Pan Shuxian, Ph.D., and Tang Jie, Ph.D. Meanwhile, Sebelas Maret University was represented by Dr. Dwi Susanto and M. Zukhrufuz Zaman, Ph.D. Dr. Dwi Susanto presented his research on the response of the Chinese-Indonesian community to the Sino-Japanese War in Indonesian Chinese literature. In contrast, Prof. Pan Shuxian, Ph.D., discussed Chinese literary works and their influence on contemporary social issues in China.
The second group of speakers included Tang Jie, Ph.D., and M. Zukhrufuz Zaman, Ph.D., who discussed agricultural topics in their respective countries. M. Zukhrufuz Ph.D. spoke about bacteria utilized in the fermentation process, while Tang Jie, Ph.D., focused on research developments at universities supporting the fields of technology and food engineering in the industry.
